Tra le sofisticate macchine di Leonardo Da Vinci, si apre la Sala delle Colonne dove è possibile ammirare ben sessantadue foto di McCurry, poste all’interno di una struttura labirintica che accompagna il visitatore lungo un percorso di viaggi, volti e scene attraverso paesi accomunati da un’economia legata al caffè. Gli scatti sono un lungo racconto attraverso dodici diversi paesi produttori di caffè come il Brasile, il Perù, la Tanzania e molti altri.
La mostra è stata creata in collaborazione con Lavazza che ha sponsorizzato e sostenuto i numerosi viaggi del fotografo.
È possibile individuare la firma del fotografo in alcune foto raffiguranti volti di incredibile naturalezza, sguardi enigmatici che raccontano storie di lavoro e rappresentano culture e mondi a noi sconosciuti.
All’ingresso della sala si legge il motivo sostanziale della collaborazione tra il fotografo e la nota azienda produttrice di caffè, nata 11 anni fa:
Francesca Lavazza e Steve McCurry si sono uniti in questo percorso comune in seguito alla nascita di “iTierra”, ovvero un progetto di responsabilità sociale realizzato dalla fondazione Lavazza nel 2002.
L’obiettivo di tale incontro era quello di trasmettere la magia del caffè visto come bevanda sociale capace di far avvicinare le persone creando un linguaggio comune.
“In quell’infinito intreccio di colori, sguardi e vite che Steve McCurry ci dona, in quegli innumerevoli scatti ora preparati e disegnati precisi come su tela, ora dettati dal caso, semplicemente ci vuole lasciare la bellezza di un mondo ancora da scoprire e in cui ritrovarsi.”
“From these hands, a journey along the coffee trail” is the title of the exhibition which is displaying the photos of the famous american photographer Steve McCurry at the Museum of Science and Technology in Milan.
Among the sophisticated machines of Leonardo, there is the Sala delle Colonne where you can up to sixty photos by McCurry, placed inside a labyrinth-like structure that accompanies the visitor along a path of travel, faces and scenes across different countries united by a coffee-based economy.
The shots are a long tale through twelve different coffee-producing countries such as Brazil, Peru, Tanzania and many others.
The exhibition was created in collaboration with Lavazza which sponsored and supported the numerous travels of the photographer.
It is possible to see the signature of the photographer in some photos depicting incredibly natural and enigmatic faces, that tell stories of work and represent cultures and worlds unknown to us.
At the entrance it's possible to read the reason of the collaboration between the photographer and the renowned coffee producer, established 11 years ago.
Francesca Lavazza and Steve McCurry joined in this common path after the birth of “iTierra” a social responsibility project created by the Lavazza foundation back in 2002.
The purpose of the meeting was to convey the magic of coffee seen as a social drink capable of bringing people together by creating a common language.
"In that infinite web of colors, looks and lives that Steve McCurry gives us, in those countless shots now prepared and drawn at times precisely on canvas, but also dictated by the case, he just wants to leave us the beauty of a world yet to be discovered and where gather."
